Il en propose une définition assez déroutante car tantôt c’est le savant qui nous introduit à la géologie des lieux, tantôt l’adolescent, poète à son insu, qui s’émerveille. Il interroge la mémoire du sable et des vagues, pénètre dans le monde des croyances et de la magie, pour refaire surface sous les enseignes lumineuses des restaurants et des boîtes de nuit. Jean-Luc Pierre ne néglige aucun aspect de cette partie de la ville qui permet aux Casablancais de respirer  l’océan et de s’ouvrir sur son espace mouvant. Mais ce livre invite aussi à une réflexion sur les transformations qui ont modifié la beauté naturelle, la flore et la manière de vivre des habitants d’Aïn Diab. Bien que des efforts remarquables aient déjà été déployés, beaucoup reste à faire pour que ce lieu échappe à la ruine et retienne un peu d’éternité.

He offers a somewhat puzzling description because sometimes it is the scholar who introduces us to Aïn Diab's geology and sometimes it is the adolescent, a poet (though unaware of it) who is filled with wonder. He consults the memory of the sand and waves, he delves into the world of magic and beliefs, re-emerging under the neon signs of restaurants and nightclubs. Jean-Luc Pierre does not leave out any aspects of this district, which allows the inhabitants of Casablanca to enjoy the ocean and delight in Aïn Diab’s ever-changing urban space. The book also encourages us to reflect on the transformations that have changed the natural beauty and fauna of Aïn Diab and its inhabitants’ way of life. Although remarkable efforts have already been made, a lot is still to be done to prevent Aïn Diab being ruined and to preserve a little of its heritage.
